What skills do you teach?
The Center for Language and Autism Support Services (CLASS) makes a custom treatment plan for every new learner we teach. Common goals include:
- Language development, including spoken speech and through the use of devices
- Classroom readiness goals such as waiting, responding to their name, independent play
- Toilet training
- Social skills like turn taking, cooperative play and sharing interests
- Safety skills like walking with a parent in a parking lot and learning their phone number and parents names
- So much more
Is ABA just used to address "bad" behaviors?
No! ABA teaches behaviors that are safer and more effective than the behavior concern is. All behavior happens for a reason, and children need to be taught how to communicate their wants and needs in a more effective way. ABA is so effective because we can help you understand why your child does the things they do, then work with them to give them more communication tools.
Is ABA therapy covered by insuance?
CLASS Oklahoma is in-network with most insurance carriers and our dedicated insurance advocates will work with you to get the coverage you need. An autism diagnosis is required by most insurance companies before beginning services. Because CLASS is a local company, we understand how to keep billing transparent and simple for Oklahoma families.
Are parents and other caregivers involved in the ABA program?
We encourage parents to participate in their child’s program as much as possible. This includes observing sessions, taking data on behaviors, and implementing goals we provide to the parents. Our ultimate goal is to work ourselves out of a job! By educating and working together with parents and caregivers, we are able to transfer behavior techniques so they may be implemented by the parent long after we are gone.
Does CLASS work with my child in the center, school, or home?
All three! CLASS goes where we are needed to meet the goals of the children we serve. Many parents enjoy the convenience of bringing their children to our state-of-the-art centers. We have relationships with school administrators and often work with clients in schools where we can equip educators with ABA skills. Sometimes we do need to do sessions in-home to teach clients where they spend the most of their time.
